About the event
A walking tour to highlight local expertise for London Repair Week complete with a workshop in surplus food preservation techniques. Visit the workplaces of repair, reuse and sustainability specialists in Waltham Forest, enjoy this unique opportunity to see their skills, techniques and purpose in action.
On this route you will…
discover a bicycle manufacturing business creating frames with bamboo, visit a tool sharing initiative, hear about the Wildways project, meet local sustainability and reuse champions along the way, AND visit a food producer for a hands on workshop into preparing a nutritious product from surplus fruit, nuts, vegetables and fungi.
Booking is essential due to capacity restrictions for each workplace.
This event is designed for adults. This walking tour is NOT SUITABLE for dogs or pushchairs or prams. Some of the workshops are NOT step free.
Places are restricted so please only sign up if you are able to attend the whole event.
This route includes two extended visits to workshops plus a couple of ‘pop-ins’ to sustainable initiatives along the way. This is a social walk through urban streets and light industrial estates, typically link routes between destinations may be 20minutes. This is not a circular route, but you are welcome to accompany the walking tour guides back to the start point or ask for recommendations for pitstops and travel options near our final visit.
Overall this event will last about 2hrs 30mins. Finish time given is best estimate. Please wear footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.
This event has been specially devised for London Repair Week, by Artillery in partnership with Waltham Forest Council’s Climate Emergency Team and the sustainable businesses and community initiatives in the borough.
